Builders are usually trained in carpentry with some math and engineering skills. They are able to read and interpret architectural plans and have a working knowledge of structures and how they fit together. Your builder, besides working in their team, will work with the architect, plumber, electrician and other contractors. The difference between a builder and a specialist is that your builder will have a good all round knowledge of each part of the building project and can see the bigger picture and how everything fits in to complete it.
When selecting your builder, make sure they have the necessary expertise required to complete your work and are members of a trade body, such as the FMB.
