Your driveway is looking a bit shabby and hasn’t been paved in a while. The job of re-paving needn’t be so daunting. By planning the paving process step by step you will find you have a newly paved driveway in no time.

There are a few things to consider if you are thinking of  having your drive repaved. First off, you need to decide what you want your driveway to look like. This includes issues such as whether you want to change the shape or length of your drive, which paving designs and colours you prefer and what type of materials you envisage.

Then there are some other factors to include in your plans. Ask yourself how much traffic do you expect to have on your driveway, do you have a garage or does your car need to stay out on the driveway and can you reverse out or will you need to turn the car around on the drive. These factors will affect the type of paving material you use for example brick paving is hard wearing and can take a lot of car traffic whereas stone pavings may be better for a household with only one car. Loose stone driveways have a great natural look but do need replacing fairly often as the stones are displaced by your vehicles.

While you are designing your new driveway and working out the materials needed and the costs, remember to factor in your edging and drainage. Often we forget these details and run over our budgets when adding them in at the end of the job. Hiring the right paving specialists will go a long way in helping you get the right look and feel at the right prices and you can ask their advice on anything from durability of your paving blocks to how to keep weeds from growing between your pavers.
